About Chandigarh Breast Cancer Trust
Chandigarh Breast Cancer Trust was formed keeping in view the increase in the number of patients suffering from the dreaded disease and more so the plight of those poor patients who cannot afford the treatment and the emotional trauma the patient undergoes for almost a year.
Chandigarh Breast Cancer Trust was launched on 6th October 2007 by holding a Survivors Meet where more than 50 survivors arrived with their families and shared their experiences which they underwent during the treatment.
The first activity of the trust which co-incided with the launch of the trust was a breast cancer awareness programme which included participation of breast cancer survivors and their near and dear one's. Quite a few of them shared that counseling was missing at P.G.I as the staff was busy with the rush of patients. Keeping this in view we have formed an inner group of survivors who visit the patients during Chemotherapy to give emotional and physical support to the patient.
Presently Trust is
- Providing financial treatment to the poor patients who cannot afford the expensive treatment. Once we pick upon a patient we ensure the entire treatment and so far we have helped 21 patients.
- We are also providing emotional and moral support. We have an inner group of survivors who visit the P.G.I on both the days of chemeotherapy and talk to each and every patient as they can relate better with the patients
